I have 4 kids, so when my youngest daughter was born I figured we were covered in the toy department. All that being said if I went off need, my house would not currently look like a toy store blew up. So, when I was asked if I would like to review 2 new toys from SmartNoggin how could I resist. SmartNoggin does not just make toys for babies they specialize in helping babies reach important developmental milestones. SmartNoggin’s toys are designed based on the concept that your baby’s brain development begins at birth. The 2 items I reviewed were the NogginStik Developmental Light-Up Rattle and the NogginRings Reaching and Grasping Rings.
The NogginStik, a developmental light-up rattle, which has a unique design for encouraging early milestones in infants really caught my attention. The top or the head of the rattle has lights that are activated when your baby shakes or moves the toy. They light up in several different colors such as red, blue and green. This has many great benefits for your baby’s eyes and brain. It stimulates visual tracking in infants and cause and effect in older babies. The bottom or the base of the rattle makes a quiet sound when your baby gives it a shake. The middle handle is perfect for some easy grasping practice, especially with the different textures used. Another feature I think is very cute is the mirror in the bottom of the base, it is so fun when your baby discovers themselves. This would be a great toy to get older siblings involved in playing with the baby.
The NogginStik is designed for baby’s birth-12 months. The average retail value is $22.99.
The NogginRings, reaching and grasping rings, cover 3 basic milestones for babies through play.
- Grasping- the rings are flexible so they promote motor skills even in younger babies.
- Reaching- place the rings over your baby’s head or just our of reach, their natural reflex to grab for them encourages hand eye coordination.
- Playing- teaching your child the social interaction of play, has benefits that will last them a lifetime.
The NogginRings are designed after a 1970’s classic toy developed by the late Dr. Richard Chase. SmartNoggin added some modern improvements to make the toy even better. The rings have a rattling sound when babies give it a shake, this can also encourage infants to turn their head in the direction of the noise. I love the versatility of these rings, they can be held, attached to a play mat, car seat, or stroller. The vibrant/contrasting colors can really grab a baby’s attention and are proven to help with mental stimulation. For older babies they are a great tool to encourage using both hands to play.
The NogginRings are designed for baby’s birth-12 months. The average retail value is $18.99.
Both of these toys come with some great resources for parents to make the most of those early learning moments. They come with a milestone guide that gives you appropriate activates based on your childs developmental needs.
I love that these toys are great for this important developmental time in your child’s life. SmartNoggin has put some great thought in making toys for your children. These Oppenheim Platinum Award winning toys are well worth their cost.
Congratulations SmartNoggin!
