Spin Master has been known to produce great toys for boys and Redakai Championship Tin is no exception!
Redakai has that distinct anime feel that little boys will surely love. The Championship Tin includes 3-D cards that animates when you stack them up during the play. When I had a chance to receive this game, I thought it would be a surprise gift to my nephew. Now he can’t stop talking about how cool his cards are.
It was easy to track power upgrades, damages and character status when playing because the cards seem to do all the work. When I first saw it, I hardly have any idea how it’s played and when my nephew asked me to practice game with him, I always ended up losing!
The basic concept of the game I discovered is that one should try to destroy the character held by his opponent. There are two versions of the game, the basic and then the advanced versions.
I only tried to play basic games with him where we both start with 1 character each. Once your turn comes, you have to take a card from your deck and play. The monster cards are played with your character to enhance defenses as well as heal damages from attacks, which you play against your opponent’s characters. Each character can have 3 different colors for its defense. If the opponent’s attack is more powerful than your character defense in the specific attack color, then your character will be hit and damaged.
Redakai cards that come with the Redakai Championship Tin are transparent and maybe stacked on top during a play. The health status of the character is shown on the three damaged zones on the right side of the card. When all zones become red during attacks on the play, then it will be eliminated. However, attacks can also cover and remove a defense and monsters can enhance defenses and cover-up red damages with yellow ones to heal the character.
Redakai Championship Tin set includes an introduction, game guide as well as a glossary of terms which is a great help when you start playing. You also get 43 cards, 3 Character bays, a card screen with Kairu counter and a draw deck. You don’t have to worry about tearing and wearing of the cards as well because they’re made from hard plastic – just right for the destructive hands of our little monsters. This is a genuinely fun card game that will take your little boys off the computers and game consoles for a change and have them interacting with other kids and people!
