The game “Monopoly” has been in the market longer than the “Baby-boomers”. As a matter-of-fact, it’s about to celebrate its 80th year of existence. That’s how long it has been since it was sold by Parker Brothers to the public in 1935. What started to be as an educational tool introduced by Elizabeth Philips to understand the negative effect private monopolizing of land, became a sensational game where at present sold in more than 100 countries and probably been played by more than billions of families and individuals around the globe.
As the word “monopoly” imply, board game monopoly is a game where only one will end up victorious and controls all the resources there is. The objective is to drive your opponents to losing end while you win it all. But of course, there are rules to follow which is provided by the cards of instructions. There are two dice which each player has to throw to signal the actions he can do with his token. Actions like buying properties, making a deal, trading what you have and what you want to acquire.
Overtime tokens use by each player had undergone some changes. Some where no longer use, others can only be seen in special and or limited editions of the board game. The 80th Anniversary Edition Game, as described in its milestone is featuring the “retro-style game board and vintage-inspired tokens iconic to each decade of Monopoly game history”. I was very excited to get a hold of this 80th Anniversary Edition game because my family is not an exception to this trading game. For as long as I can remember, the game Monopoly holds the top spot in our favorite family past-time. We always play this whenever we have the chance, during rainy or snowy days to kill the boredom of not being able to go out. This is part of our game celebration too, especially after Christmas dinner or Thanksgiving party. We love the concept of beating each other. We employ so many tricks in playing and do our best not to land in jail, go broke or lose everything and be called losers.
