Do you find creating back to school delicious lunches difficult? Does it seem like your lunchtime creations are lacking something to give it that something that will make your little one smile? I know exactly how you feel, as my little girl will start Grade 1 and I am already feeling overwhelmed just thinking about packing her lunch. I was still scratching my head, trying to think of some ideas when I received a combo pack of Hampton Creek’s Just Mayo range to review. Just Mayo is made of non-GMO expeller pressed canola oil, lemon juice, filtered water, organic sugar, white vinegar, pea protein, salt, various spices, beta-carotene and modified food starch. It also does not make use of any egg at all in their recipe.
Just Mayo Features:
- 4 different flavours – Original, Chipotle, Sriracha and Garlic
- Non GMO
- Vegan
- Egg Free
- Dairy Free
- Soy Free
- No Artificial Colours or Flavours
- Not needed to be refrigerated until opened
In my pack, I received a sample of each of the flavours that Just Mayo has to offer. I immediately set to work, trying out different combinations of sandwiches I could think of with each of the variants, trying to determine if this mayo is up to the task I have set for it. After a lot of time spent experimenting and having fun in the kitchen, the true test came to see if my little girl will enjoy this new variant to her ordinary sandwiches.
I served her the platter of sandwiches, telling her to try Mommy’s new creations for back to school. At first she was hesitant, a bit unsure about what to expect as the sandwiches did not look any different from what she is used to, but after a few tastes she became more eager to try another one. Her verdict in the end was that it was “Yummy” as she stated and that she likes the new sandwiches more except for the ones that “stings her tongue”, which I figured out meant the Sriracha Mayo.
Therefore, my findings on Hampton Creek’s Just Mayo are as follows. The Original Mayo has a creamy texture that is very similar to traditional mayonnaise, while the Chipotle Mayo has a more tangy flavour to it – which would compliment any burger, cracker or even vegetable dishes you might think of adding to the lunchbox. The Sriracha Mayo is a bit spicy, something I would not really recommend using for your little one unless you know that their tummy can handle it or that they enjoy spicy food. The Garlic Mayo has a strong garlic flavour to it. It is best suited used to add just a hint of garlic to meals or sandwiches.
I will definitely recommend Hampton Creek’s Just Mayo to parents and anyone out there who is looking for something to add some fun to their lunches or recipes. It is not only delicious, healthy alternative compared to traditional mayonnaise, but also provides you with four different flavors to choose between.
