Book Review: The A to Z of Children’s Health: A Parent’s Guide from Birth to 10 Years

The A to Z of Children's Health

So when you child has a cough or crud coming out of his eyes, what do you do? Maybe you are like I used to be and go straight to Dr. Google or run to the pediatrician’s office. Well no more! Let me tell you, The A to Z of Children’s Health is a Mommies BIBLE! Not only does this book offer information on illnesses but it also gives you advice on how to treat them.

This book has helped me in a tough spot more than once, that’s for sure. When my baby boy broke out in a rash, I was freaking out, ready to run to the doctor. He was so irritable due to the itching I didn’t know what to do. Thanks to this book I was able to look up different rashes along with their pictures and come to find out it was simply Eczema. I found that limiting hot baths and using lots of moisturizer would do the trick. When I spoke to his pediatrician about this he suggested using Benadryl to help with the itching.

This book lists over 235 medical conditions in Alphabetical order and covers everything from Asthma to Zits for your babies up to age 10. That rash may have been the first time I used the book (thanks for letting me review the book) but it surely wouldn’t be the last. My little girl (she’s 5) is accident prone and her favorite activity is to be dangerous. Last month she was running down the stairs and tripped over her own two feet which ended in a loud bang and lots of tears. After I consoled her and made sure there were no gashes I was able to page through this book and go right to the section about bumps on the head. We were able to ice her goose egg to manage the swelling and I knew there was nothing else wrong by reviewing the symptoms of concussions. (Thank goodness!)

This book is my go to for everything from tummy aches to temper tantrums and how to handle them. I would like to buy a few more copies of this book and given it to my mommy friends. I highly recommend this book to new moms and even you veteran moms. This book would make a great gift for your daycare provider or your teenage babysitter. The A to Z of Children’s Health should not be used as sole means to care for your children, but as a guide to better care for the issues that arise. Be sure to visit the doctor when needed or in case of emergency.
