Let me start off by saying that I am a serious tea drinker. Having a cup of tea is as comforting as it is refreshing. My favorite time to drink tea is early in the morning before the kids get up. It’s a quiet bit of “me time” that is only complete with a wonderful cup of freshly brewed tea.
As much as I love tea, sometimes I’ll switch it up and have a cup of coffee. However, for both tea and coffee I’ve spent countless amounts of time trying to get the perfect brew. This involves a variety of factors such as temperature, seeping time, etc. I hate it when a cup just tastes “off”. So I was so excited that I had a chance to review the IQ Kettle from Breville.
I’m really happy I did. The Kettle is produced by Breville, a well-known kitchen appliance manufacturer. They have taken the basics of a fast boil kettle and automatic switch off, and have enhanced it to being able to heat the water to the exact temperature for optimum taste for green, white, oolong, and black tea, plus French press coffee. Talk about smart!
If boiling water is too hot, tea leaves release a bitterer flavor. Breville has done the testing, and done the math and science. They know at what temperatures each type of tea is best drunk. Taking all the guess work and trial and error away from you, the IQ Kettle makes tea the simple pleasure that it should be.
It has a 7 cup capacity. Perfect for showing off to your friends! Its sleek design is ideal for any countertop as brushed stainless steel. Here are some more details about its features:
- The jug is cordless – super convenient!
- The lid opens softly to prevent slashes and quick steam releases that’ll burn
- The base has a cord storage wrap, which is great when the kettle isn’t in use.
- Already mentioned but I love it- automatic shutoff
- Another safety feature is dry boil protection
- If you plan on having more than one cup, or want to keep warm for your hubby when he comes in the kitchen, you can use the keep warm button. It keeps the water at the desired temp for 20 minutes.
Here’s the technical side (just as important to know!). The IQ Kettle has a voltage of 110-120. In inches, it’s 8 ¾ x 7 ¼ x 10 ½ (LxWxH). With 1500 Watts of power and a 1 year warranty replacement, you’re good to go. I haven’t had any problems with mine so for and wouldn’t expect you to either.
The kettle does come with an instruction manual, but I’ve found it really simple to use so I haven’t really read it.
I love the IQ Kettle, but if you are a true tea fanatic then I would also go for the Breville Smart Tea Infuser. It takes care of the steep time problem in addition to setting the temperature! Amazing!
