Day Trip to Toronto Centre Island

Toronto Centre Island has plenty to offer a family looking to create memories for a lifetime. On a recent trip there we had tons of fun and explored lots of things on the island.

Taking the ferry is really fun for the kids, even my 7 months old enjoyed it! The ferry terminal is at the foot of Bay Street at Queen’s Quay West, just west of the Westin Harbour Castle hotel. We arrived there around noon and it took 8 minutes to the island and we went right for the Far Enough Farm first.

Far Enough Farm was established in 1959 and has many animals that everyone in the family can learn about. We were introduced some of the animals include: piglets, llama, jersey cow, donkey, rabbit to name a few.

Mini the pot belly pig awaited an arrival from the kids and received a warm welcome. We also met a Jacob sheep. Jacob sheep are piebald (colored with different spots) and may have between two to six horns.

After visiting the farm, we headed to the Carousel Café. Tantalizing dishes make up the menu at this gorgeous eatery. There is also a taste for every child’s palate on the children’s menu and make sure that you save room for one of their amazing desserts. We dined on the salmon nicoise, fish and chips and seafood pasta. These mouthwatering dishes were accompanied with fresh fruit and the kids made sure to save room for a banana split as their dessert choice.

After filling our bellies with hearty eats, we headed to the long awaited amusement park. The park has rides on levels for every thrill seeker out there or if you like to take it mellow, there is plenty to find yourself on. My daughter fell in love with the Antique Carousel, Ferris Wheel, and Antique Cars. The Ferris Wheel looks like a windmill and you get a great view from the top. At last, She even rode the pony express twice.

There is also kiddie boats, Twirling Teacups, and a Swan Ride as well as other rides for beginners. For those a little more on the excitement and there’s the Beasley Bear Ride, the Log Flume Ride and the Monster Coaster to name a few.

Rates for the amusement park range from a strip of ride tickets to a season pass, so there is room for every family budget. For a family day getaway, the Toronto Centre Island is the place to go. Fun and memories are sure to delight your family for years to come.
