As a child, nothing excited me more than getting a brand new sketch pad filled with clean, white paper or a new set of art supplies. There is something powerful in creating a piece of art, taking your blank canvas and applying your favorite colors, stencils, and stickers. You get the chance to express yourself, even if you do not realize that is what you are doing, and it can help relieve stress. Yes, even the littlest among us experience stress.
As I grew older, I still loved a creative task, but my focus moved away from fine arts and crafts and moved towards writing. Over time, I lost that spirit and, to be honest, I missed it. Now that I have my own children, I am getting to experience that excitement again and it is quite magical. My daughter and I have spent many an afternoon coloring in the floor together or assembling collages made from magazines and newspapers. And now my son is old enough to start getting in on the game.
When I found out that eeboo was going to send me some sample products, I was thrilled. I had heard about their offerings from friends that bragged about their quality, unique products, and beautiful packaging. Getting the chance to try them out for myself motivated me to run out and buy a big, brand-new sketch pad.
As soon as they arrived, my daughter and I immediately started debating which item we wanted to start with. We decided to try out the Life on Earth oil pastels since my daughter has enjoyed working with other pastel sets. Anyone who has worked with pastels knows that they can get a bit messy, but the produce a look like nothing else. These particular pastels applied smoothly and produced a vibrant color. My daughter put the finishing touches on her picture using their Bird and Tree colored pencils. We were quite satisfied with our butterfly!
Later on, we opened up their Foil Scratch Papers. I had not used these since I was young and my daughter had never experienced them before. She just used it as a regular paper and was surprised to her drawing became a beautiful shinny picture. They proved to be quite the delight as each mark she made revealed new colors beneath. I suggested that she can create many beautiful flowers with them next time, which later she can also assemble into a collage that she decorate with eeboo Rainbow Glitter Glue.
The last item we opened was their Patchwork Design Tiles. I had never had anything like them before. These tiles come in sheets and you need to pop them out. You then assemble them into designs of your choice, creating patterns on the floor or table. Unlike most craft products, these are reusable and are only meant to create temporary designs. It offered the opportunity for unique and somewhat challenging play for my daughter and I found the process of creating patterns to be an almost meditative experience.
If you are looking to purchase some craft supplies soon–perhaps as stocking stuffers–take some time to explore the offerings from eeboo. You will not be disappointed with their products.
