It is important to give your little ones a strong foundation of learning from a young age; however, this can prove difficult because even though they are like little sponges when it comes to learning new things, it is also difficult to keep them interested in the learning process. Therefore, it is important to think of new ways to make learning a fun and interesting experience, but all parents know that that tends to be a difficult task.
Lucky for us, Kids Academy has the answer. The company focuses on the development of early-childhood development applications for mobile phones, computers and tablets. The applications are available for both Android and Apple operating systems and consist of learning games that teaches the alphabet and numbers to interactive storybooks that teaches reading. The aim of the company is to educate children aged two to six, but also make it fun, even those with special needs. It has been proven many times before that when children enjoy themselves, they retain more details about the learning experience.
My kids absolutely adore the games and will sit for hours in front of an app playing and learning where I used to struggle to just convince them to sit with me for a few minutes to go through some flash cards or to count. One of my little ones’ favourites is the Preschool and Kindergarten learning kids’ games. The app includes lessons to teach numbers and the alphabet.
My daughter enjoys the alphabet lessons, playing it repeatedly, trying to improve her score. The app is a wonderful addition to her learning program as she recently started Grade 1; it helps to enforce everything that she learns in school. My son, however, enjoys looking at the animations mainly, but also attempts to trace the letters, but still needs a little bit more assistance from me.
What I like about the apps is not only does it make learning fun for my little ones, but also motivates them to set goals and to become better at a skill as it includes a system where it gives you stars according to how you fared. It is wonderful to see my little one’s faces light up when they receive a big amount of starts for completing something challenging. Another positive about the apps is that it allows you to set up different profiles for each child with all their information and even a little picture, that way you can track their progress and see where they need help. In addition, it helps them to perfect their writing skills.
Another one of their favourites is the Three Little Pigs Interactive Story Book. This app brings new meaning to story time as it offers three different ways which you can enjoy this traditional story. You can either listen and play along while it reads the story to you, you can auto play it and follow the story as it highlights the words being read or you can read it yourself, spending as much time as you want on each page. I must admit this little interactive story even has me hooked, we have had a lot of fun with it together, pretending to be the wolf huffing and puffing and controlling the animations.
I will highly recommend that parents have a look at the collection of Kids Academy Apps available, as there is something for everyone that is bound to give your little one hours of pleasure while learning and help them a lot.
