Fibre-Craft’s Creative Hands® Kits {#Review}

For those rainy or laid back days when your children are stuck inside, Fibre-Crafts offers three separate kits that are full of crafts to entertain your kids for hours and save your sanity. All three kits come with instruction manuals, so they work great for both kids that are interested in creating picture perfect crafts with step-by-step directions and those who choose use the instruction manuals simply as table mats to catch their extra glitter and let their imaginations run wild.

Zoo 2 Do

The Zoo 2 Do kit, which seems to be the most popular of the three, comes with enough craft supplies for over 25 animal-themed crafts, which at only $12.99 is a steal. The kit gives kids plenty of room for imagination, allowing them to make everything from crazy pencil toppers to paper puppets. All of the shapes and pom-poms are pre-cut and sticky, so most kids can play with the kit unsupervised. Scissors and glue are still sometimes necessary, though, and there are also loads of small pieces that could possibly be a choking-hazard, so supervision is still recommended for the real little ones. Both my daughter, seven, and my son, two, loved this kit, which to me means fun for kids of all ages.

fun tote

The Creative Fun Tote kit leaves even more room for imagination as it has no specific theme. Though it still comes with instructions for kids who really want them, it also offers the perfect opportunity for you to let their creativity lead the way. Some of the crafts kids can create include paper plate insects, pom-pom monsters, decorative name badges, pencil toppers, and personalized picture frames, although the possibilities are truly endless. The kit, which contains all the essentials you would find at a kids’ crafting table, is also only $12.99. Once again, be wary of the small pieces that could possibly pose as a choking hazard, which in this kit include pom-poms, sequins and sticky eyes. Although the recommended age for the kit is six and over, once a kid reaches four there is very little supervision necessary, with the obvious exception being any time that they are handling scissors.

paperpals

The last of the kits, Paper Pals, Bugs and Flowers is an outdoors themed kit complete with enough supplies for 12 different crafts. That comes out to slightly over a dollar a project, which is great pricing considering each one is bound to entertain for at least the majority of an hour. The only downside to this particular kit over the other two is that it calls for more help and supervision because there is a lot more tracing and cutting involved, so it is not the best option if you are looking for something to distract the little ones while you clean the house or get some work done. Though there is still plenty of room for creativity, there are fewer options on what you can make with the supplies in this kit, which include paper flowers, spiders, butterflies, and other insects. Some of the supplies included in the kit are insect templates, paper plates and cups, precut pieces of foam and straws. This was my seven year-old daughter’s favorite kit; she decorated flowers and butterflies for hours!

All the kits are fully equipped with everything you need in order to create, with the exception of scissors and glue. One tip is to do all of the cutting beforehand to avoid involving scissors at all, which comes in especially handy with the butterflies in the Paper Pals, Bugs and Flowers kit or when crafting with toddlers. In the end, each kit offers hours of healthy fun and distractions for only $12.99, leading to both happy kids and happy parents. If you’re interested in buying one of these kits, you can find a comprehensive list of all of their providers on the Creative Hands website.
