The Gro-clock has made its way into my home, and now I can’t imagine bedtime without it. I have a 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, and both of them use the sleep training clock and get entirely different benefits! On too many occasions, I have been awakened far too early by my son’s tiny little footsteps creeping into my room. Now that we have this sleep training clock, my son is making it through the night in his own bed, allowing everyone in the house more sleep! It’s an amazing concept. It’s so simple, but so genius, and the book that comes with it just brings it all together.
The Gro-clock is by far the best toddler clock out there. With its simple design and bedtime storybook that comes with it, even my 3-year-old was able to grasp the concept quickly and easily. Once he lies down for bed, the clock is full of stars. If he wakes up during the night, all he has to do is look, and if he sees several stars still on his clock he knows it isn’t time to get out of bed. Once it’s morning and time to wake up, the stars are gone and in their place he sees a happy sunshine!
My son isn’t the only one who enjoys it. My daughter loves it as well and wanted one of her own ( I bought her the gro-clock as her Christmas gift ). She doesn’t use it as a sleep training clock, but she loves the blue glow it gives off at night and the yellow glow for morning. Hers is set to digitally display the time, which makes her feel like a big kid while she learns to tell time. It’s so neutral that it goes in any room, so both children are able to really enjoy the Gro-Clock.
My son also enjoys the brightness of the backlight on the clock. His is set on the highest setting, so it actually doubles as a nightlight. It’s perfect. My daughter secretly enjoys this feature too, although she’s would never admit it. She keeps hers slightly dimmer just to prove she’s older and braver. It was a smart move to make the light adjustable for different ages and sensitivities to light. Even though this is great toddler clock, it’s still a great clock for my 7-year-old as well.
For the first two weeks after getting the Gro clock, we read the story every single night. It’s so beautifully illustrated. We still continue to read it along with our other bedtime stories. Everyone in the house seems to wake up feeling more refreshed since we implemented the sleep training clocks. Though my daughter had no trouble staying in bed, her little brother getting up too early still often disturbed her. My son doesn’t even seem to get scared with his friend “Mr. Star” next to him at night!
Having a child at the age where his concept of time still resides in “how many sleeps,” this perfectly relays the same concept with “how many stars.” When he wakes up and sees there are still several stars, he knows it’s way too early to be rousing anyone out of bed. He’s even told me, “Mommy, I woke up and looked at my stars, and I three more stars to sleep!” He’s so proud of himself since getting this clock. His toddler clock makes him feel very independent and gives him the confidence he needs to stay in his room until time to wake up every day.
Whether the child is younger and using it as a sleep training clock, or older and benefiting from the educational aspect of learning digital time, the Gro-clock is an excellent option for all children’s bedrooms. With all it’s different settings and features, neutral design, and included storybook, this clock is a win all the way around.
