Just like other mothers, I experienced many times in which my daughter accidentally scratched her face when she was a few months old and sometimes it caused a little bleeding. It broke my heart to hear her cry from the pain. I did my best to cut her nails often, but I learned that a baby’s nails grow pretty quickly, and I was told the solution to the problem was to put mittens on her hands. Although I did receive plenty of mittens as baby shower gifts, I kept losing one or two while out and about. Of all of the pairs of mittens I had, none of them fit her that well. I took advice from a friend and decided to put socks on her hands, and some of them actually stayed on better than the mittens. It was embarrassing going out in public with her wearing socks as mittens, but I was more concerned with my daughter scratching her face than with what anyone else had to say about my parenting decision.
As a new mother four years ago, I opted to put socks on my daughter’s hands and put the problem of face scratching to rest. However, now that I am expecting baby number two, I do not want to repeat the cycle of putting socks on body parts where they do not belong. Luckily, I came across Guava Mitts. I wish I knew about them when my daughter was just an infant because I have heard nothing but praise about these mittens. If I had these years ago, I never would have had to use socks to protect my baby’s face.
Guava Mitts were designed as custom-fit and eco-friendly mittens made with bamboo and organic cotton. You could adjust the size of the mittens with Velcro so they fit well on any infant. Also, they come in many different colors and make quite a fashion statement. In a few months I will be a mother to a newborn all over again, and I am definitely more prepared now than I was four years ago. I received a pair of Guava Mitts for review for my baby to be. I chose the cirque pattern in chocolate, which should match many outfits.
Although people may think that 12 dollars is a steep price for one pair of mittens, I have to disagree. Other mittens get lost and have to be replaced, so you end up buying many mittens over time and wasting money in the end. I look forward to trying the Guava Mitts on my newborn and spreading the word about these mittens to other expectant mothers.
