It is part of every kid’s childhood to take part in pretend plays, especially when it comes to saving the world, or in this case—galaxy. With the KOOSH Galaxy Solar Recon Ball launcher, your dreams can come to life. It actually has a very reasonable price of $26.99 (some stores have promotional prices which are a bit lower). I just got a chance to review it for my 4-year old daughter and her imagination goes wild when she plays with it.
The package includes: the blaster (decorated with bright colors green, orange and blue), 4 glow-in-the-dark foam balls and instructions. It requires 3 1.5V (AA) batteries that are not included but very easy to install. It is very easy to use and I would recommend it for children ages 4 and up. The blaster itself has a small handle that is easy to grip for tiny hands. Insert the foam balls through the small tube on top of the launcher then move the handle all the way back to fire your first ball. Slide it forward to allow the blaster to load the next ball and just move it back again to shoot the next one. This KOOSH GALAXY SOLAR RECON ball launcher is from the same makers of NERF toys so you can be sure that it is safe for children.
I knew that it had sound effects but I was expecting the typical effects that most toys similar to this have. Until my daughter showed me that you could actually know what the launcher is doing by hearing the sounds it makes—when it is powering up or in her words “charging”, when you fire your ammo and when it is on standby or when it is “resting”. In addition to the stunning sound effects, the launcher has bright LED lights for added effects. You might think that you always have to replace the batteries because of these added effects but surprisingly, it has a switch to prevent this from happening.
The launcher looks rather durable. Though this is safe for indoor play, kids might want to play with it outside especially if they are “protecting the galaxy from aliens”. You cannot avoid losing a ball or 2. It’s a good thing that you can also purchase extra foam balls, just like the foam darts for NERF toys. Even if it is safe and soft, I still remind my daughter to be careful when aiming a target especially for sensitive body parts like our eyes. There are really a lot of ways to enjoy this launcher and it is up to the kids to use their imagination and creative ideas.
