Children tend to have erratic sleeping patterns. In fact, if they had their way, kids would sleep all day and play all night. Settle into a routine
Children need to be able to transition from day to night. Put in place activities that signal to them when sleep time comes. Start with a bath. Afterwards, feed them and brush their teeth. You can later watch a movie together or read them a book. These patterns make it possible for children to know the difference between play and sleep.
Have regular sleep and waking times
You need to decide the exact time when your child should go to bed and when they wake up. If you manage to pull this off, then they will be able to sleep and wake up at specific times each day. If your kids are of a school-going age, these timelines allow them to rest well at night and wake up on time to get ready for school.
Create a sleep-inducing environment
When it’s time to sleep, dim the lights inside the child’s room. The darkness will communicate to them that it is time to stop playing and sleep. Darkness in its own way is a strong inducer of sleep. The child needs to be able to sleep comfortably, and soft, fluffy pillows will go a long way toward making sure they do not toss and turn all night. If you can, throw in a few fluffy toys and have the child enjoy being in that soft bubble.
