When you have kids, you really have to collect lots of picture books and storybooks. They say it enhances your kids’ imagination and vocabulary. Reading bedtime stories is an effective way to trigger their imagination because then they can dream about the story being read instead of nightmares. However, in this generation, kids do not enjoy listening to bedtime stories anymore. They’d rather play with the iPad until they feel tired. I however, still like to do it the old school way. I still read bedtime stories for my daughter – it’s a good way to encourage her to read and at the same time, have our own mother-daughter time. That’s why in our house we really have a lot of picture books.
One of her favorite bedtime story is that of J.E Laufer’s Last Night I had a Laughmare: Bedtime Adventures in Gigglyville. She really enjoys listening to this story because it really tickles her imagination and creativity. When I first read her this story, she fell asleep in the middle. But now, every time she picks this one for me to read, she really ends up listening until the end. For just $16.95, you’re really in for a great adventure.
In terms of story, the author really incorporated great rhymes that every kid would enjoy. I know for a fact that my daughter enjoys it so much that this has been the most read book so far. It also made use of numbers that the kids will easily pick up on. It’s a book that slightly touched the idea of learning numbers in a fun way.
Gigglyville never makes any sense but it’s such a fun place to visit! I think it is wonderfully made. If you’re reading this to your kids, the last thing that they would ever think of before going to bed is Gigglyville and for sure they wouldn’t have nightmares but rather lovely, colorful, and happy dreams. That’s what every mother wants for her kids. That’s what I like about this book.
The pictures were engaging and colorful. They’re beautifully drawn and my daughter really enjoys the purple and pink colors all over the place. You’d see a lot of colors in this book and you can even subtly teach them colors. There are a lot to learn in this book. It’s much like of a Dr. Seuss book – fun, creative, imaginative, out of this world, but still very educational. Kids will definitely enjoy this book.
