Every once in a while, my kids spontaneously ask me to get them pets, and as they grow bigger they’ve already been asking me more often. I’m a pet lover myself, so I take my kids’ pet wishes seriously. Having pets makes one responsible and more caring, and it’s a therapeutic ‘hobby’ too in a way that pets have that magical ability to de-stress their persons.
So whenever they ask me to get them a pet, I tell them that having a pet is a ‘huge’ responsibility and that they have to prove first that they’re fully ready to take a pet home. I help them somewhat prepare for it too, by teaching them to take responsibility of their own belongings, take care of themselves, and look after each other as siblings. These are necessary life skills anyway, so I’m sure they’ll soon be ready to become responsible pet owners.
In the meantime, I let them practice their pet care skills with their adorable Little Live Pets from Moose Toys! We have the Little Live Pets Lil’ Mouse House and the Little Live Pets Lil’ Turtle Tank. Their little pet mouse and turtle are so cute in their own moves and realistic habitat, they almost seem so real!
The Little Live Pets Lil’ Mouse House includes one little pet mouse that fits on my kids’ palm, one mouse house, and an instruction manual. Our mouse is a little blue spotted one, which can make cute squeaking sounds when getting petted and tickled, and can run so fast just like a real mouse! The mouse house is so cool because it has its own hamster wheel, a huge main room with a sliding window that has holes for the mouse to be able to ‘breathe’, and a likewise spacious round open area with a little pet flap going inside the main room. My kids enjoyed playing with their super frisky little mouse! I bet cats will have a hard time chasing this toy.

My personal favourite though, is the Little Live Pets Lil’ Turtle Tank. It features Starry, the Magic Turtle. Starry is a super adorbs little turtle with stars on his shell and body, and he lives in a spacious starry tank that just needs to be filled with water for him to swim in. Starry’s movement is so real, it’s calm and slow, that watching him crawl on land and swim on water made us all feel instantly relaxed. I would love to take Starry to our swimming trips!

There are so many Little Live Pets to choose from, and our mouse house and turtle tank are spacious enough for company! Aside from different mice and turtles in singles with fun colours and unique personalities, there are also many kinds of interactive pet birds with their own sweet sounds.
Little Live Pets is recommended for kids aged 5 and up, but my almost 3-year old handled the pets so well, still with my supervision of course. If you can’t decide which pet to get for your little ones, take their quiz “Which Little Live Pet should you get?” from the website! There’s definitely a Little Live Pet for every unique child.
