For quite a long time now, I’ve been noticing my almost 3-year old son imitating his 7-year old sister in asserting independence. He’s been playing happily on his own, and while he does that he also tries to talk the way his older sister does. So cute! I think he’s trying to impress me too when he tries to do things his sister can do, without my help at all. It was hard at first to shift from chasing him all the time to just watching him from a close distance and realize how much he’s grown, but now I’m just proud of my little man.
So I was thinking of ways to support my son in becoming ‘independent’, while taking advantage of the fact that he looks up a lot to his older sister. One day, he was just observing her organizing her things for school, so I took that opportunity to teach him about taking responsibility of his own belongings. The LittleLife Toddler Daysack was a very helpful starter for him. He adored it so much that he used it a lot since Summer!
We got the Dinosaur design, which looked super cool because aside from its light brown colour with orange scale lines, it has a dinosaur tail and big fluffy orange spikes on the middle part from the top of the bag to the bottom of the tail. It really looks like a dinosaur!
The main compartment has a lot of room, where his own toys, change of clothes, snacks, and water tumbler can easily fit. The zipper to the main compartment is conveniently located on top, so it’s easy for my little boy to open and close. The padded shoulder straps are adjustable, and there’s a chest strap too to prevent the bag from slipping off when my son gets too active. And there’s no mistaking that the bag is his, because it has an internal name and address tag. It has a top grab handle so he can carry it another way. And for parents, the removable safety reins adds a safety feature for kids, and these straps can also unclip for hands-free strolling.
My little man’s frequently been using his favourite daysack for almost three seasons already, and given his very active nature this bag sure is so durable like a tough, thick-skinned dinosaur! He enjoys packing and unpacking his belongings with this (and I guess my goal to teach him organize was quite a success). I love that it’s sturdy and holds a lot of things securely, but still feels comfy enough for my munchkin to run around in it, and it’s just fun to look at. We actually got compliments from strangers! And most of all, I have peace of mind because it complies with BS EN 13210:2004 safety standards for Children’s Harnesses and Reins.
