Magformers Carnival Set is the newest edition to our house and my daughter loves it. Not only can she build whatever ride she can imagine, but also they actually move. She plays for hours with her Magformers Carnival Kit because the possibilities are endless.
The Carnival Set comes with 46 total pieces: 12 triangles, 24 squares, 2 hexagons and 8 accessories. Each piece measures around 2-5 inches. Magformers are great because they all have magnets in them that are housed in ABS plastic. This means they always attract so when two pieces touch they connect! My daughter can create simple or complex shapes with the Carnival Set. The magnets do not have the North-South polarity that regular magnets have, so two pieces of the Magformers Set will always connect. Since the magnets also move, you can start out with a 2-D object and then work your way up to a 3-D one. My daughter was amazed by the magformer transition. In total there are 144 magnets.
Magformers have won numerous awards with their Carnival set winning the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Toy Award. In 2009, Magformers won the Best Toy For Kids Award and won it again in 2010. These toys aren’t just toys. The pieces help my daughter learn about shapes and geometry and allows for her creativity to run wild. The Carnival Set helps improve her concentration since she is focused on building and also promotes logical thinking and reasoning in order to build a ride that will run efficiently. Since the magnets stay together, she doesn’t get easily frustrated. The Carnival Kit has all the fun colors as the Rainbow Set, but with more pieces.
Most say the Carnival comes only once a year and the Magformers Carnival Kit lets my daughter have her Carnival every day. From a Ferris Wheel to a sitting a spinning thrill ride, the magnets never let up and my daughter can play all day. The accessories allow for the rides to actually move and twirl. Two little people let her play as though she were really at a carnival. If she gets dizzy or tired of riding one ride, she can take it down and start on another.
All in all, the Magformers Carnival Set is great for my daughter’s play time and educational learning, so far. With all the possibilities that it creates and all the learning promotion that is does (and she doesn’t even realize it!), I plan on expanding her Magformers set. Just don’t tell her and ruin the surprise. 🙂
