In this video, I will show you how to make Shanghai-Style Wontons and its soup.
Usually we use hand-chopped fresh greens, such as baby bok choy or yu choy. In this video, we are using pea vines. It tastes delicious. You must try it if you’ve never had that before.
Here are the ingredients used for the filling,
- 1/2 lb. lean ground pork
- 1/2 lb. chopped pea vines
- 1/4 tsp ground white pepper (optional)
- 3/4 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 pack of wonton wraps (either fresh or frozen)
- A small bowl of water as the “glue” for wrapping wontons
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients (except the water) and mix them until smooth.
Follow the step-by-step video above on wrapping and boiling wontons.
The last part of the video is teaching you how to make wonton soup.
Notes,
Don’t worry if they don’t look nice, the most important thing is to make sure all edges are sealed and water doesn’t get in.
You can save the extra uncooked wontons int the freezer for later use.
What a fantastic recipe, thanks for sharing!
