With Christmas less than one month away, I am, as are all parents, on the lookout for gifts that will bring a big smile to my children’s faces as they excitedly rip apart the wrapping paper that I have painstakingly fashioned around their presents on Christmas morning!
Lego has put out a new playset called Star Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank, a wonderful and creative toy that I knew right away would give my little guy hours of playtime fun. Star Wars is always a good bet for kids, and the Hovertank is one of the movie’s most prevailing and loved vehicles born from the story.
Already having had this set, I easily assembled it for my son, and watched as he happily got right down to business. The Star Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank is thrilling beyond measure for him, as he enters into his own world of Star Wars, guiding his Hovertank into battle after battle, and, of course, he emerges the victor every time! The set comes complete with three mini figures; Chirrut Imwe, leading two Imperial Hovertank pilots, complete with his cloak made of real cloth, heads up the threesome as they travel through the living room, on patrol to ensure safety against attack.
The play set also includes a turret gun that my son can elevate and rotate to face in different directions, complete with dual shooters (springloaded!), side guns that can also be elevated, a cockpit big enough for two mini figures, transparent wheels, and a storage container. Also included are a bow, a staff and two blasters. Once I completed the assembly of the Hovertank, it was ready to simply “hover” across the floor with a single push from my son, as Chirrut Imwe and his two pilots carefully police the area for enemies.
The Lego Star Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank can be added to any other of the Lego’s Star Wars Collections and is suggested for ages 8–12. Its affordable price makes it a perfect gift for the holidays!
Another Lego play set that has become a favorite for my daughter is the Lego Friends Horse Vet Trailer.
This horse doctor’s office on wheels includes everything that a 6–12 year-old could ever want in order to take good care of an ailing horse. Included are two mini figures, the veterinarian, Sophie, and little Olivia, complete with riding jacket, helmet, and other accessories. And what would a rolling vet’s office be without a gray dapple horse to take care of? Well, the horse is included, too, along with a horse blanket, a saddle, and even a carrot. In addition, the Friends Horse Vet Trailer comes with a horse stretcher and Sophie’s veterinary tools, which include two medicine bottles. The trailer itself has a door and windows that open and close, a storage compartment on the roof, and even a safe place for the horse to travel in. In order to pull the detachable trailer there is an SUV with seating for both Dr. Sophie and Olivia.
My daughter was able to assemble this playset completely on her own, and now uses it as a wonderful addition to her growing collection of Lego Friends. These sets join together perfectly to provide my daughter with a seemingly endless parade of Legos playtime fun.
Well, I think I like the idea of starting my Christmas shopping early this year! With Lego’s playsets like these available, I’d better pick them up before they “fly off the shelves”!
