New Makeup by ONE DIRECTION Kits!

Most women absolutely adore makeup. It’s a wonderful way for us to completely transform our faces whether we are pampering and preening ourselves for the office party, aiming to dazzle on date night with our partners or simply experimenting with ravishing new looks in the mirror. As such, naturally I welcomed One Direction’s myriad of new makeup kits to update my look. For many mothers putting ourselves first and dolling ourselves up goes on the backburner once we have little ones to deal with. I think it’s just as integral that we prioritize ourselves from time to time in order to recapture that ever elusive spark of individuality that can be easy to lose with motherhood, especially when dealing with the experience for the first time when it’s completely and utterly new and as overwhelming as it is miraculous.

I’d heard a lot about this brand on the grapevine from other women so they’ve proven to be very popular products and not just with tweens and teens. I was quite excited to receive my kit and my daughter was too. She’s at that age where she enjoys watching me do my makeup. She’s quite enraptured by it. I think every little girl, when they see mom in the mirror doing her makeup, thinks that her mom is the most beautiful woman in all the world.

I received their Electro Glam Mascara which promises to give a jolt of colour. The limited edition product contains a trio of mascaras (perfect if you use mascara a lot or want to gift some to friends, family or delightful daughters!), and the best thing is that depending on the lash length and thickness you require, you can slowly build the effect by increasing your application. If you want a light, fluttery, au natural look, you only need to apply one gloss but if you want superstar lashes, just keep applying and watch the effects increase. Unlike ordinary black mascaras, this pop of blue goes a little off road and will make you look a little different to everyone else. I had flashbacks to a few moments knee deep in motherhood when I felt a bit drab and dreary but these definitely give the eyes a well needed pop that makes you feel more awake and alive!

You can also swipe the mascara through hair to add strands of lively blue. Whether you want to look like a rock star or mermaid, it’s effortless to cultivate the look and my daughter was pretty intrigued too. It’s also available in intriguingly named shades like Does He know? (pinkest hot pink) and Story of my Life (amped canary yellow) which is quite awesome if you want to experiment with being blonde for a day.

Next up was the Liquilights Glow Gloss. Lip gloss is probably my favorite makeup staple because it’s so effortless and makes such a dramatic difference. I’m proud of my pout so a slick of gloss dressed it up a little and gives me a marvelous mouth. During the night the lip-gloss gives a UV finish which will most definitely stand out! I think my partner fell in love with me all over again! I like to wear lip-gloss alone where it gives a sheer finish but naturally you can pair it with your favourite lipstick for a stronger effect. One Direction’s crème lipstick really emboldens the gloss. The gloss comes in three variants; Through the Dark (which glows under UV light), Kiss You (an orange glitter UV gloss) and Taken (a poppy pink UV gloss). With so many to choose between its ideal for a girls night out.

Finally came the nail kit. I love a little nail maintenance so I was most excited by this part. The Rock Me Nail Kit also contains neon UV-reactive nail varnish and UV reactive glitter to help you dazzle in the dark. All you need to do is sprinkle the glitter over wet nail polish for a more low key look or dip your nails up to the hilt and watch them transform. There are three nail varnish toppings; happily (blue), moments (pink) and Diana (3D holographic). Glitter toppings include Kicks (UV snow cone blue), Not Afraid (UV pink glitter) and Star (UV holo glitter). For fans of One Direction these kits are ideal but even if you aren’t a fan, the makeup is high quality, long lasting and utterly affordable.
