One of the wonderful things about getting these curated boxes each month is that you never know exactly what you are going to get. It is always a surprise and always something fun and exciting to share with the kids in your life. Parragon’s October Book Box was no exception. There is just something magical about going to your mailbox each month and getting a great surprise package and having no idea what you are going to find inside. In this day and age of instant gratification, so much of that seems to be lost on our generation these days.
As a parent, one of the worst things to hear out of your kids’ mouths are the words “I’m bored.” With Thanksgiving and Winter break coming up, Parragon must have had exactly that in mind, because, in the October box, they curated a delightful assortment of coloring and activity books that are going to keep even the most discerning kid busy for hours.
And what better way to say magic than Disney! This month’s box was jam-packed with some wonderful Disney themed books from our friends at Parragon. They have done a wonderful job of curating an amazing box full of fun and enjoyable coloring and activity books that are sure to entertain any kid or even any kid at heart. I think no matter how old your children are, they are going to find something they are going to enjoy in this month’s box. We had a lot of fun getting to explore the different assortment of activities that were included this time around.
First up, we have Disney Pixar Coco Mosaic Stickers by Numbers. You remember paint by numbers and color by numbers from when you were a kid? Well, this combines that with every kid’s love of stickers. Complete with over 1000 stickers, you can bring the magic to life, decorate the sugar skulls (yes, sugar skulls, who doesn’t love sugar skulls?), and decorate the pages with flowers. Plus, bonus for moms, the stickers have a place to go so they aren’t going to be stuck all over your walls at home.
Next, we have Disney Pixar Coco Always Remember Coloring Book. Okay, first we got to decorate sugar skulls with stickers, and now we get to color them? I briefly considered hiding this one from my son and daughter, but I digress. This is a super cute coloring book printed on black backgrounded pages that includes 4 super bright, almost neon colored crayons so that the colors really pop against that black background. As a bonus? If your child still hasn’t mastered staying within the lines, it is not going to show as much against that black background, so they are going to feel awesome about getting these pictures colored without seeing that blob of color outside the lines! At 48 pages, this is going to keep the kids entertained for a long time.
Also included was Disney Pixar Coco Friends Forever Activity Book, a coloring an activity book complete with stickers, coloring pages, and activities. There are sticker scenes for the children to complete of Miguel and his friends, sugar skulls that are in need of some decoration, lots of pages to color, and so, so much more. And, there is a story to go along with those activities, so it’s educational, too. This one comes in at 44 pages and is geared toward kids in 1st to 2nd grade, but really, who doesn’t like to color?
Next, we have Disney Pixar Coco Sing Your Song. This one was really fun because it really lets your kids’ imagination run wild. It is inspired by the movie, and is a coloring and activity book, but not as much in the traditional sense. It is more like a very early introduction to journaling and sketchbooks. I found this concept interesting because I don’t think I have ever seen this done like this before. You get to write songs with Miguel, create a family tree, and even design your own sugar skull mask. It even has press out sugar skulls that you get to do all sorts of fun things with. This one was one of our favorites in the box this month, I think.
Of course, last but not least, we have Disney Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Little Snowman, Big Adventures. I mean, come on, who doesn’t love Olaf, right? This one also comes with 4 brightly colored crayons and includes over 30 stickers as well. I really like that more and more coloring books are coming prepackaged with crayons like this. I know it is only 4 crayons that are included, but there is nothing more disappointing to a little boy or girl than getting a brand-new coloring book, only to realize you are all out of crayons and have to wait until mom can go to the store again before you can really make use of it. Why get their hopes up like that only to bring them down again? I am also happy to see more and more coloring and activity books incorporating story into them. Reading is so vitally important to everything we do that I am glad to see more companies out there trying to find ways to make it more fun and less like homework. With this coloring and activity book, you really get to feel like you are a part of Olaf’s adventures right along with him, and it really comes to life.
Parragon does a fantastic job of making learning fun. Whether it is an assortment of curriculum-based materials like last month, to an assortment of coloring and activity books like this month that focus on either a winter theme or a Halloween theme, they just seem to have a knack for taking educational materials and making sure that they never get dry or boring. I am so glad that I get to receive these packages each month, and then that I get to come here and write about them and share them with all of you. It’s so much fun to see what we are going to get each time one of these packages comes in the mail and it is always different. I can’t wait to see what we are going to get next month.
After reading this post I am impressed with Parragon’s They included popular books and stickers too.
