We are surprisingly impressed with the Playtex Diaper Genie Elite.  We had a different diaper disposal unit with my older child and we did not like it so we were skeptical about this unit as well.  The deal breaker on our previous unit was that each time you put in a diaper, it sealed each diaper individually in plastic, and the amount of plastic used made us uncomfortable.  So we were really pleased to see that the Diaper Genie Elite uses just a single bag for all the diapers, making it a much more environmentally friendly option.
We are also pleased with how easy and convenient the Diaper Genie is to use, especially because of the foot pedal, so we can avoid touching the lid.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the Diaper Genie for many people is how well it traps odours; and it that regard we found it performed exceptionally well.  Our washroom is indeed diaper odour free.
One more reason we love the Genie is that it prevents our dog from getting into the diapers, like she had previously with an open-lid garbage can in the washroom.  That is actually the main reason we have the Genie: to keep our pets away from the diapers.
The only negatives we can think of is that we find the refill packages a tad overpriced for what you get.  In addition, the Diaper Genie might also be a little large for some small rooms.  Our washroom is quite small and we were just able to fit it in comfortably.
Overall, we are really satisfied with the Genie and we will continue to use it.

I received the playtex diaper genie elite disposal system & gave it to my niece to use on Christmas.
It is very easy to assemble, putting the bag in. We really like the paddle to open that can leave us hands free. no more rushing to garbage bin in garage or double/tripe bag the soil diaper.
Thank you!

We had a newborn baby recently and the diaper usage eveyday is huge. I am so glad to receive the Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Disposal System and it helps a lot not only mentioning the stink odor it eliminates but also the convenience it has because the foot pedal makes life easier when changing diapers. I place it in our nursery room and it looks nice too. No more garbage bin.

We are pleased to have received a Playtex Diaper Genie Elite to try.  We had just been storing the dirty diapers in a garbage pail and cleaning it out regularly.  The Playtex Diaper Genie Elite really made a difference with the smell.  It was very easy to assemble, the foot pedal makes it easy to use when changing diapers and changing out the bag is simple.  The bag can fill up quickly but if you bundle the diapers before putting them in and shake the bag periodically it lasts longer.  It is definitely way better than using a garbage can.

I have had the diaper genie and have been using it for a few weeks at this point.  This is what I have found:
I have had a few different types of diaper pails, including the original style diaper genie from when my first child was born.  Immediately what I noticed was the foot pedal and its taller height.  I like that it can be operated single handed, and even my 5 year old can help out.
We have a new puppy, who is quite attracted to diapers and I will have to admit that this new diaper genie seems pretty puppy proof.  We are keeping ours in the bathroom, it really doesn’t seem to take up much space and I haven’t noticed any doors from it at all.
I personally am not the best judge on how much it holds as we are only going brought 3-4 diapers and pull ups a day here, but for myself the value seems pretty reasonable to me the way we are using it.
Thank you for sharing your reviews.
And the winner for the $50 Babies R Us gift card is Judy!
