Poco Peru Alpaca Tulip Sweater Review

When you think about buying kids clothes for winter, you probably don’t think about wool. Traditional wool can be itchy, and it has the tendency to make children uncomfortable, especially indoors. But Poco Peru is changing all that by making children’s clothes out of Alpaca wool, which is soft and not itchy, and is perfectly suited for kid’s clothing.

Alpaca wool is different from regular wool. It is warm, but also breathable and lightweight. Alpaca wool has tiny air pockets throughout the fabric, which makes it thermally insulating, without being suffocating. Also, it is not at all itchy like regular wool. Regular wool contains lanolin, which is the allergen that causes adverse reactions to wool, whereas Alpaca is lanolin-free. So Alpaca wool has the same luxurious look and feel as regular wool, but won’t bother sensitive skin.

Aside from using super soft Alpaca wool, Poco Peru also supports fair business practices. They buy their wool directly from Peru, and only use producers who are ethical and ecologically responsible. In this way, Poco Peru supports the local economy in Peru while producing adorable children’s clothing.

tulips

One of these items is their Alpaca Tulip Sweater which I got for product review. This girl’s sweater comes in a soft neutral color made of 80% Alpaca wool. It has cute orange tulips embroidered on the front for a little whimsical touch. This sweater is perfect for winter; it’s nice and cozy without being boring. The sweater can be either hand washed or machine washed on cold, whichever is easiest.

Although it‘s summer time, my daughter thought this sweater was pretty awesome. She loves tulips and was excited to see a sweater with them on the front. This sweater is perfect for a cool fall day, and can be easily layered over a long sleeve shirt in the winter to keep your child warm on the coldest days. The flowers add a cute touch that will brighten up a normally grey winter day.

Normally, I would never consider buying my daughter a wool sweater, because she has sensitive skin, but the Poco Peru Alpaca Tulip Sweater changed my mind. The Alpaca wool was warm and cozy, but not itchy like normal wool. It’s lightweight enough for fall or spring days, but when layered, it’ll keep your children warm on cold winter days. If you think that wool is too itchy for your sensitive children, you should look at Poco Peru’s line of soft and cute products. They’ll be sure to change your mind, just like they changed mine.
