Inflammation – I’m sure every one of us had and maybe still have at least one form of it. External conditions like skin irritation, to internal ones like gastrointestinal problems and arthritis, they are all painful. Maybe most of us adults are already used to it and can tolerate pain at acceptable levels, but how about our kids, especially babies and toddlers? As a parent, my heart breaks every time they complain of unexplainable stomachaches, nasty toothaches, and more so when they just cry and couldn’t explain the kind of pain they’re feeling.
I’m really glad that my almost 3-year old son has been benefitting from his Pure Hazelwood necklace in many ways, without taking any oral meds and skin ointment. He just had to wear it and I really noticed how his usual discomforts gradually disappeared and his disposition happier. I don’t know how I can convince you with this magical, all-natural trick, but let me explain why we’re all for it. This alternative treatment is no magic after all, as its effectiveness is scientifically evident.
Firstly, let’s acknowledge that inflammation is actually a kind of immune response, or a way of the body to respond to something harmful, and is also essential to start the healing process. A simple example is when you pluck a brow. It hurts, right? The first stage is irritation, and then inflammation, until the pain disappears without any treatment done. But some mild inflammations cause pain that stays long and may be difficult to bear, like teething in babies. As for my son, he used to have on-and-off itching around his hands and diaper area, and sometimes he gets constipated and cries because of the pain from having a BM.
Secondly, some inflammations can cause further inflammations that need certain treatments. There are medications, diet changes, and all other ways of intervention. But sometimes, these treatments don’t immediately remove the pain associated with the inflammation (unless there is pain relief medicine). And while there are over-the-counter medicines for minor inflammations (like heartburn, eczema, GERD or reflux, mouth ulcer, etc.), they’re just short-term solutions that don’t target the root cause. Applying cream or ointment on my son’s itch problems only makes him feel better for a while, and for his constipation he’s sometimes hesitant to take more fibrous foods or hydration.
We tried letting him only wear his Pure Hazelwood necklace, and with all the wonderful signs of him getting better and happier, I never reached for his anti-itch cream again. We never saw the redness on his hands and his diaper rashes again, and he hasn’t been scratching himself anymore. We still give him healthy foods to aid in his digestion, but at times when he might lack these, he no longer gets constipated ever since he had his necklace on.
So how does hazel wood heal? The 18 years of scientific research by Pure Hazelwood showed that hazel wood is rich in polyphenols as antioxidants, just like the anti-inflammatory superfoods we know. But what’s unique about hazel wood is its ability to release its polyphenol-rich molecules upon skin contact and through our cells, working its way to ease the symptoms associated with oxidative stress and inflammation. History also tells us that hazel wood was traditionally used by Native Americans for its healing properties.
It is recommended to replacing the necklace every 3-6 months, or when the symptoms start manifesting again. Hazel wood gets darker over time as it continues releasing its healing molecules until it’s all consumed, depending on the severity of the person’s condition. For now, I want to try their bracelets for myself and for my loved ones.
Pure Hazelwood is the pioneer in hazel wood research and healing products. They have therapeutic jewelry (necklaces, single to triple bracelets, anklets) in a variety of stylish designs for adults and kids, as well as skin care products (moisturizing lotion, zinc ointment). The jewelries are made from 100% natural hazel wood from the Canadian boreal forest. For my son we have Baltic Amber (gemstone) hazelwood necklace for children, which is 14” and has safe lobster clasp. Pure Hazelwood products are available in pharmacies, health food stores, baby boutiques, and online.
