I want our food to be eaten fresh all the time, and I used to think that it would only be possible during mealtimes at home or when we eat out in restaurants. And now that my kids are going back to school, I still want them to eat fresh food. Meaning, I want their packed lunch to stay fresh as if they were just newly prepared. If I have to go as far as having my daughter bring a personal refrigerator for her fresh and healthy lunch, I would, but it is not convenient for little kids. Good thing, her new Rubbermaid LunchBlox Kids has taken care of it!
The Rubbermaid LunchBlox Kids is a set of food containers that can be snapped together as one cool pack. Ours includes one pink large container with removable dividers, one purple side container, and one green sauce container. The Blue Ice tray snaps these modular containers together so they are neatly organized and the food stays cool and fresh. The container lids are leak-proof, and they’re easy to open and close securely for little kids. 
Here’s why I like the LunchBlox so much:
- It keeps food FRESH! The Blue Ice tray keeps my daughter’s packed lunch cool. Actually, the ice pack stays cool all day, because even her unfinished food stayed fresh and crisp! The LunchBlox is easily my go-to solution for packing fresh and healthy food like fruits and veggies, salads and sandwiches, which are made sure safe to eat.
- It encourages VARIETY. Aside from the many containers, they have removable dividers too to allow for even more variety. Recently, my menu styling went like this: bread slices and eggs in the main container; carrots, cucumber and cherry tomatoes in the side container; and cereals in the sauce container. Healthy and yum!
- It’s FUN! The LunchBlox is like a Lego bento box, really. Kids will enjoy assembling the containers into the Blue Ice tray! The colours are fun too. I personally enjoyed packing lunch with this (see my #2 experience above).
- It’s very CONVENIENT for kids. The LunchBlox fits perfectly in most standard-sized flat lunch bags so the containers and lids stay snugly in place when on the go. The lids and the Blue Ice tray are easy to snap securely in a click, and the Blue Ice tray makes all the food containers easy to bring with even just one hand.
- It’s ORGANIZED. Food portioning in the containers is ideal for kids, and the variety of foods won’t get mixed up and messy. I also like that the Blue Ice tray holds everything together to avoid having missing parts when my daughter packs up after she eats.
- It’s SAFE. The LunchBlox is BPA-free, and is safe in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher.
To be honest and fair, here are just a little nitpicking of mine:
- You’ll need to mind the size of your lunch bag to at least fit the LunchBlox, and to avoid getting a bag with smaller size. They have lunchblox for flat lunch bags and tall lunch bags.
All in all, we love our LunchBlox! Not only was the freshness I’m looking for in a packed lunch was met, my expectations were even exceeded with variety, organization, convenience, safety, and fun!
