2013 Father’s Day Gift Guide – Great Power Tools for DIY Dads

There are so many celebrations wherein mothers or the women are in the spotlight – Mother’s day, International women’s day, Giving birth, to name a few. But there is one special Sunday in June dedicated to all those men equally responsible for producing miracles, and that is the Father’s Day. Personally, looking for the perfect gift for fathers are hard. But this is a great time to upgrade dad’s tool collection.

Ryobi Impact Drill

First, I’ll start off by saying that my husband and I have been remodeling/redecorating our house for about 2 months now and I have become quite familiar with using power tools in a relatively short period of time. Within these two months, I have made more trips to our local Home Depot than I can count; but what can I say, it’s addicting! I was excited to receive a set of Ryobi Impact Drill from Home Depot as a Father’s Day present for my husband to try. It came in last week and I was beyond excited because our (very) old drill’s battery kept slipping out.

I couldn’t wait – he got his present early. I needed my sheetrock up and it was just sitting there BEGGING to be used!! My husband has always mentioned that he wanted RYOBI power tools and I didn’t really understand why until now.

The first thing that make this power tool kit so attractive is its affordable price. At $119, you can’t get a better deal! All the others that I have seen start out at $200 and go up from there.

Secondly, it comes with two 18V lithium batteries. I thought that this would be a nice feature since I was so used to my other one dying on me so quickly (when the battery wasn’t falling out of place).

These tools are lightweight and the battery life is great (I haven’t had to recharge it yet), for everything you get, the value is awesome and it holds a lot more power than what you’d expect! With my old one, I had to really put my bodyweight into it to get it to work right. Now, my drill does all the work for me!

It’s also nice that it has two speeds so you can change it up if you need to; so far, I haven’t needed to though. I can already tell that this kit is going to help my husband and me create the home of our dreams and make many more home projects for years to come.

I have quite a few plans for reclaimed wood pieces that I’m going to make when we get to the redecorating stage of our home improvement. I’m going to make a trip to Home Depot for a replacement Father’s day gift. I’ve got my eye on the RYOBI 18V miter saw. If you’re doing home projects like us or even if you’re just a homeowner, you’re going to need basic power tools. After knowing what all you’re getting, at this price, it’s just a no brainer! Thank you Home Depot!!

  1. Thank you for the review…I have been thinking about buying one because there are a few things that I would like to be able to fix and one of these handy drills would certainly help 🙂
