I don’t know if there is a person among us who couldn’t use a little more energy—except my children, they absolutely do not need any more energy. Those little bundles of energy are a big part of the reason why I always need a bit more. Ideally, I would crash for a quick nap, but who actually has time for that? Not me. So, when it comes to recouping my energy, I have to look to other sources.
When my five sample Solo Energy Bars arrived, I was a bit apprehensive. They were packaged like typical snack bars, but clearly with a healthy spin. For better or worse, I have come to learn from experience that packaged healthy foods are not always the tastiest foods. But, hey, they promised me more energy so I could hardly refuse them.
The first flavor I tried was the pineapple coconut. I was very impressed by the flavor—not at all like what I have come to expect from healthy snack bars. The pineapple and coconut played off of each other well and what could be better than an energy bar that reminds you of pina coladas?
The next day, I decided to give the dark chocolate mandarin a shot. The flavor was good—the chocolate nice and strong—but I am not the biggest fan of chocolate and citrus pairings. The lemon lift I tried later on, however, definitely hit the spot. Lemon alone makes me feel lighter and more awake; put into an energy bar, it is the perfect combination.
Chocolate charger and peanut power are two classic flavors. While they did not offer any great surprises, they were delicious as one would expect.
Okay, so they tasted great. But did they deliver energy as promised?
If you approach these energy bars the way you approach energy drinks, you will not get the results you are expecting. The idea behind Solo Energy Bars isn’t to give you a sudden, large burst of energy. That type of energy is not sustainable and tends to rely on caffeine and sugar highs—which inevitably lead to crashes. Solo Energy Bars are low on the glycemic index which means they are designed to raise your energy without raising your blood sugar. The result is real, sustainable energy which does not result in a sudden crash later on.
So, who would benefit from incorporating these energy bars into their diet? Anyone who finds themselves frequently wishing for more energy to sustain them during the day and wants to get that energy in a healthy, lasting way. I feel that these bars are especially convenient for those who are too busy to sit down and relax or rest in order to recoup their energy—teachers, salespeople, and parents such as myself. They are also beneficial for those who may not be looking for something to boost their energy but are looking for a healthy snack that will not cause their blood sugar to skyrocket
If you think you could use a little bit more energy in your life, give Solo Energy Bars a shot; they are delicious, healthy, and effective.
