Trying to figure out what book to read to your child can sometimes become overwhelming. This book is great and there are various reasons why. One of the main reasons is that it is divided in to age ranges. This narrows down your choices more than usual and helps you find the age appropriate reading material. The age ranges are from: Babies to 2, 3-5 years, 6-8 years, 9-11 years and 12-15. Sometimes it can be hard to find great books for young adult readers as some are contain more mature material than others and you can’t ever really tell what is what these days.
I have this book and I love using it as a reference point. It helps me find great books that can teach everything from colors and shapes to rhymes and patterns in writing. There are a lot of popular books listed and many are ones that have been my favorites growing up, but I find that there are also plenty that I would have never thought of if it weren’t for this book. I can use it as a reference when I’m on my way to the library or the book store. Each book listed has a small “about” section that tells you the plot line and some background information.
Tell Me A Story is also a great gift. For anyone who is a parent or parent-to-be, this will last for years. The author (Sanford) does a great job of inserting all the classic stories we know and love, and mixing them with newer stories.
