Christmas is around the corner and we are all thinking of what to get our little ones and are being asked what to get the kids. Sometimes we don’t know what to say. Kids have so many toys and other than clothes what else can we get them?
We all love giving toys to the children in our lives and of course they love receiving them. I know that I have been trying to come up with some ideas as my daughter gets spoiled with toys from family and she doesn’t even use all of them. So, if you’d prefer Santa or family to deliver something a little different this Christmas, something that won’t cram that already overflowing toy cupboard even more, we my have some ideas for you.
Experience Gifts
Experience gifts are a great idea because as they are enjoying the experience they can remember who to thank for that experience and creating special memories with family when they take her on outings.
- Memberships to a children’s museum or the zoo.
- Paint Your Own Pottery trip.
- Tickets to the movies, theater production, or concert.
- Gift certificates to a favorite ice cream/cupcake shoppe.
- Gift certificates for a family outing, such as ice skating or mini golf.
- Crafting or baking dates.
- Lessons or a new outfit for the lessons (eg. swimsuit or tutu)
Subscription Gifts
My daughter loves getting mail, and I think she would love a magazine subscriptions! There are also a lot of knew companies offering subscription boxes. Most offer a one-time option in addition to a 3,6,9, and 12 month plan so there is something for every budget.
- Magazine subscription
- A Book-Of-The-Month Club!
- Monthly Craft Kit.
- Monthly Learning Kit.
- Baby Essentials Subscription.
Digital Gifts
Some people dislike giving digital gifts because they like having something to unwrap. But you can still make a cute present out of something like a Netflix subscription by printing out the gift code.
- Online Learning
- Netflix
- Educational App
- Gift cards
Learning Aids
And if you just really like wrapping stuff, I love getting hands on learning items are great!
- Extracurricular activity items.
- Musical Instruments
- Arts & Craft Supplies
- Books
- Learning Activities
The Gift Of Giving
It’s important to teach our kids about charitable giving from a young age. It’s a sweet opportunity to teach our kids about giving beyond ourselves.
- Giving to a local need
- Choose A Gift Catalog
When this topic comes up we definitely don’t want to take away the joy of giving from others or infringe our own feelings on anyone else but we are share our hearts with them and ask them to consider experience or non-toy gifts (or a small toy plus experience). Some may find this difficult to do at first but hopefully they will see the benefit.
