One of the biggest words that I’ve ever dealt with is empowerment. So when I was asked the big question “What empowers you?”, I never thought that I’d ponder on it for some time despite the simple answers that I can easily give.
Why do I need to be empowered in the first place? I personally want to be empowered so that I can continue becoming a strong person for myself and for my family. A mother’s empowerment is not just about being an authoritative figure when it comes to effectively instilling positive discipline to my kids, but also about staying strong during tough, challenging times. I would also love to be empowered in a way that I could inspire my children to become likewise empowered, independent, and resilient as they grow older. And as for myself, I simply want to be empowered in doing the most simple tasks so that I can happily do more complex ones, and face bigger challenges that come my way.
So what really empowers me? I really couldn’t think of just one answer, because I realized that there are a lot of small things in a day that make me happy and feel recharged, and when I sum them all up they become one empowering unit. It’s just the most simple things that come for free, such as hugs and kisses from my sweet little darlings, words and acts of love and support from my husband, friends and family, and of course a few little joys courtesy of my me-time!
Me-time has never been more precious ever since I became a mom. I always try to sneak in little pockets of time for feel-good showers, reading my favorite books and magazines, and of course writing for my blog. A few minutes of some time alone can already make a difference in renewing my energy for the rest of my day. On some occasions where I can get to have a special date with my husband or a long-awaited get-together with friends, I take my makeup and dress-up seriously to really make me feel beautiful. And on the simplest and most ordinary days, everything is perfect when I wake up with a positive mindset.
Now that Mother’s Day is fast approaching again, I can’t help but look back and reflect on my different roles as a mom. I am a friend to my kids, where they can tell me about anything under the sun as I happily listen and laugh with them. I am a wife to my husband, where we both support and complement each other as we live and work through our lifetime partnership in raising our family. I am daughter to my mom and my mother-in-law, and they inspire me where I look up to them as my role models in motherhood. And most of all, I am human. I can be weak and emotional at times, but I always gather strength from myself and from my loved ones. I never thought I would be this empowered.
And as a Natural Mama, which is what my blog is all about, I am empowered by my quest for natural motherhood. Thanks to the support of my blog readers, NaturalBabyGoods has stayed alive and kicking for years, in sharing valuable information and insights about natural and eco-friendly products.
One of the many products that empowers mothers like me is the revolutionary SodaStream, which has become my staple partner on simple days and grand celebrations like Mother’s Day. The young and old in my family can share the same drinking adventures and sparkling moments together, minus the health risks, and without harm to the environment. This is the kind of empowerment that gives me control in making smart decisions that will do nothing less than to benefit my family.
