A Yummier and Healthier Alternative to Cow’s Milk with Silk Creamy Cashew

Having two little ones, I have the constant struggle to get them to consume pure milk; chocolate milk on the other hand is an all time favorite but not a healthy alternative. Therefore, I was happy when I received three coupons from Silk Canada, to try some of their products. I heard good things about their products, especially their newest addition Silk Creamy Cashew. It’s available in Canada now!

As a result, I settled on getting myself some Silk Almond Milk and Silk Creamy Cashew to try, as that way I had two chances to convince my little ones that milk tastes good. The first thing that impressed me about the Silk Almond Milk was that you could substitute it in anything that you would normally use cow’s milk. This was a blessing; however, it was less creamy, which was a bit of a downfall. Additionally, it is full of healthy vitamins and calcium that is good for growing children. I also enjoyed the hint of almond in the flavor, but unfortunately, my little ones were not convinced yet.

As for the Silk Creamy Cashew, they were hooked since they took the first sip of the delicious and creamy glass full. The taste is wonderful, every sip contains the wonderful hint of cashews (only expected as it is made purely from cashews, with no added nonsense) and the sweetness of the milk makes it a treat to drink. What I also love about it is that it is creamier than the Silk Almond Milk, which makes it perfect for creamier recipes such as puddings, ice cream and mashed potatoes. However, it is just as flexible as Silk Almond Milk as you can use it as a substitute in any recipe.

If that is not enough, it contains the same amount of calcium as regular cow’s milk, but with only 60 calories per serving. In addition, it is also a great source of vitamin D. Therefore, I feel at peace knowing that my little ones are getting only the best nutritional value when they drink a cup of Silk Creamy Cashew or add it to their cereal. It is also completely lactose and soy free, which is perfect for anyone struggling with an allergy or sensitivity to any of those products.

I will definitely recommend both these products, as it is delicious and nutritious. However, I must admit that I am a bigger fan of Silk Creamy Cashew, mainly because my children love it and its creamy taste. However, I know that it might be difficult to try new things, for that reason I am including a recipe for a Creamy Cashew Smoothie that will definitely help you transcend the challenge, as it is healthy, delicious and easy. Even my little ones love it and everyone knows what finicky eaters children can be at times.

Creamy Cashew Smoothie (serves 1)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Silk Creamy Cashew
  • ½ Banana (fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ Ripe Avocado
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ cup Ice

Method:

  • Blend all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

Do yourself a favour and try these wonderful products, use the recipe or just substitute it in one of your favourite recipes. In the end, if you like it you can show your appreciation on their Facebook page, I am sure they would love to hear from you.
