I’m a big water person. I have already lost count of how much water I drink every day because I drink water almost as much as I breathe in air. Water is perhaps my best secret to smoother skin despite not having a consistent skin care regimen. I gulp lots of water even after I finish a big glass of cold beverage. I can’t go anywhere without taking my giant water tumbler with me.
And naturally, I’m influencing my family to be big water drinkers too because I have seen the zillions of unsung benefits of having a well-hydrated body. But my kids are still too young and sensitive to just any kind of water, so we’re extra cautious with what they drink. My husband and I are fine with filtered and mineral water, but when my kids were babies we strictly gave them sterile boiled water and gradually transitioned them to purified water, and now very slowly to home-filtered water.
I’m still on the lookout for the best water filtration system that can produce child-safe drinking water for a very long time in our household. We’re very big water drinkers so all the products we’ve tried have given us drinkable water for several months before we would need to replace the filtration cartridge or whatever it is that needs to be replaced to give us clean water again. And replacing is not at all cheap. Plus, you would have to clean the whole water dispensing unit when replacing the filter.
I’ve been through a lot of water filtration options and all I want now is something that would last a very long time (maybe at least 6 months) before we would buy a replacement part and clean the whole unit again. So when I got a chance to try ZeroWater, I was very excited. It’s different from all other water filtration products I tried, because it’s in the form of a pitcher! We have the ZeroWater Ready Pour.
Here’s how it works:
- Its installed with a filtration system inside, called the Ion Exchange filter which uses a patented 5-stage filtration system.
- The filtration starts with the water in the reservoir with 2-cup capacity, and when it finishes filtering it will flow into the main 8-cup portion of the pitcher which is now ready to pour and drink.
- It also comes with a TDS (total dissolved solids) indicator, which lets you know when the water is safe to drink (at TDS level 000).
What I love about the ZeroWater Ready Pour is its really great-tasting water at 000 TDS. I used the TDS indicator on our tap water, and it read 120! I also compared the taste of ZeroWater to our other filtered water, and to bottled drinking water, and ZeroWater tasted the best for us. I also like ZeroWater’s concept on continuous flow of filtration. We don’t have to wait for the whole 10 cups to finish filtering because water can be filtered 2 cups at a time.
We enjoyed drinking great-tasting water for a month without safety issues, until the taste started changing and the TDS now reads 160. It was time to replace the filter. Like I said, my family are big water drinkers, and one 10-cup pitcher of water isn’t enough for just me alone. So I would have to refill this pitcher at least 5 times a day to have enough ZeroWater for all of us. And I think our water consumption increased even more because the water from this ZeroWater Ready Pour is really great-tasting. I also wished the tap water in our area had lower TDS so that the filter didn’t have to work too hard and we could have enjoyed our ZeroWater longer.
But good thing is, the product comes with coupons for replacing the Ion Exchange water filter so we would save some money. We would still continue using our ZeroWater but only for our kids, to check how long it would last with just two little people drinking. It’s a pitcher that’s quite easier to clean too than common giant water filters and dispensers. And that’s great because I would be able to monitor how much they would be drinking in a day!
